Celtic are showing renewed interest in Oskar Wojcik, Cracovia's defender, after a failed attempt to sign him in January. The 22-year-old Wojcik, who has been a key figure in Cracovia's backline this season, featuring in PKO Ekstraklasa matches, including against Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza, has become a league revelation.
Standing at 6 ft 3 in tall, Oskar Wojcik has established himself as a mainstay in Cracovia's defence. He has operated as a central defender on both sides in both a back three and a back four for the Ekstraklasa side, showcasing his versatility and solidity.
Should Celtic decide to reignite their interest in Wojcik this summer, they will face significant competition. Reports suggest that several Serie A clubs are also monitoring the young Pole, which could drive up his price.
According to Goal.pl, Celtic failed in a bid of over €4 million (approximately £3.4 million) in the final days of the winter transfer window. The deal did not materialise due to other players being sold by Cracovia, as well as a gap in valuation.
Despite the January setback, signing a central defender remains a priority for The Hoops ahead of the summer transfer window. Celtic did eventually complete the signing of Benjamin Arthur on loan from Brentford, but the 20-year-old has largely been a back-up since joining.
Currently, under Martin O’Neill, Liam Scales and Auston Trusty remain the first-choice pairing in defence. However, the continued pursuit of Oskar Wojcik underscores Celtic's ambition to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season, especially in the face of growing competition.
